These are work-in-progress pictures of the baby room. We had some dry rot issues that had to be repaired thanks to the previous owners not replacing the roof in a timely manner. Unfortunately this required us to rip out the drywall and insulation on one and a half walls. Thanks to my Dad and G the rotten wood was replaced, the walls were re-insulated and new drywall hung.
After installing the new drywall, ripping out all the wood paneling and replacing the door trim with rounded corners, the room needed to be re-plastered. I was the (wo)man for the job, plastering the entire room by hand in "imperfect-smooth" to replicate the walls of a 1920's era house.
And then time for finishing the dreaded windows. It would have been easier to paint the new wood windows white instead of stain them. But we don't like easy. We spent our Christmas break finishing the windows with 3 coats of stain (Kelley Moore Red Mahogany) and 3 coats of Polyurethane. Now if we can just get ourselves to finish the rest of the windows in the house . . .
Watching paint dry. We actually picked out this paint color (Kelley Moore Glass House) before we were pregnant with the idea that this was going to be a baby's room. We didn't want to have to re-paint and a good thing because we were pregnant soon after. The color is a blue-grey-greenish.
After we finished the plaster and paint we decided to temporarily paint the subfloor so we could use the room. When we found out we were pregnant we figured we had to eventually put some flooring in. We found this Virginia Millworks 5/8" x 3 1/4" handscraped solid Tuscan Oak flooring from Lumber Liquidators and decided to install it in the entire upstairs. We liked it so much that we went back a month later and bought more for our master bedroom.
